Your day to day as a Mortgage Underwriter I As a full-time Mortgage Underwriter I at Corda Credit Union, you will be responsible for providing Conventional Underwriting for first mortgages, ensuring they meet Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines for loans intended for sale to secondary market investors. In this role, you will not only underwrite in-house non-conforming first mortgage loans but also support the underwriting process for second mortgages and home equity lines of credit. Your focus will be on evaluating loans for all residential 1-4 family, owner-occupied properties, allowing you to utilize your skills in a dynamic environment. Your contributions will help secure meaningful financial solutions for our members while upholding the highest standards of integrity and member-centric service in the mortgage industry.
Preferred Knowledge And Skills - Strong oral & written communication skills with customer service focus
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- A technology oriented individual with excellent computer skills
- Experience underwriting to DU and/or DO requirements in order to ensure that loan meets Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac underwriting requirements
- Experience with FHA & VA government financing programs
- Experience underwriting to meet Mortgage Insurance (MI) underwriting requirements
- Experience and/or strong understanding of mortgage processing and closing procedures
- Experience in reading and interpreting both business and personal tax returns as well as profit and loss statements for self- employed borrowers
